Submission Information

Submissions close 5pm, Thursday 1st October.

Abstracts will be assessed for eligibility and compliance, and applicants invited to present in the Hour of Power Heats. Presentations will be in the 3 minute thesis format.

The top-ranked presenters in each category will be invited to present in the Finals, and are in the running for an award:

  • Best Clinical Presentation
  • Best Non-Clinical Presentation
  • Best Novice Investigator Presentation
  • People's Choice

The winner of each category will receive $1,000 towards their research.

A Novice Investigator is defined as a researcher who has not yet been awarded their PhD, with a limited publication and grant history. This can include junior/trainee staff undertaking a research project. It is not necessary to have been awarded a Foundation New Investigator Grant to qualify for this category.

 

Abstract submission guidelines:

  • Abstracts must be less than 1950 characters; a single figure or table may also be submitted.
  • Headings should include Background, Methodology, Results, Conclusion.
  • All communication will be maintained with the submitting author using the nominated email address and contact phone number.
  • A maximum of two abstracts per presenting author may be submitted.

    Hour of Power Presentation

    Following the review of abstract submissions, selected applicants will be invited to prepare a 3-minute presentation for an Hour of Power session.

    Please indicate which day(s) you are available to be allocated to a heat. You may select one or both days. We will endeavour to schedule presenters according to their preferences where possible; however, we may not be able to accommodate every request.

    Following the heats, a number of presenters will be selected to progress to the Hour of Power Finals. All selected finalists must be available to attend the finals on the afternoon of Wednesday 28 October 2026.
